Our Director

Rosalind Stevens attended the New England Conservatory of Music where she majored in voice and sang in Conservatory Chorus performances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. After returning to her native Detroit, she graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. She was a member of the prestigious Kenneth Jewell Chorale, a world-class group specializing in a capella literature. She also worked in Detroit as a lead sheet writer for Motown Records and as a radio jingle singer.

She began her 20-year military band career as a pianist with the 77th Army Band at Fort Sill, OK. She then transferred to the U. S. Air Force and was stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. There she played with the Jazz Band and Rock Band, appeared as a soloist with the Concert Band, and played protocol engagements with a jazz trio and on solo piano. In her free time, she sang with the Texas Bach Choir and toured with them to Eastern Europe in 1985 to commemorate the 300th birthday of J. S. Bach.

Her next tour of duty was to Germany with the Band of the United States Air Forces in Europe, where she played concerts for public affairs and troop morale, and supported the cultural affairs branch of American Embassies and Consulates. She traveled to 26 countries, performing for heads of state and members of the European Diplomatic Community. Her last assignment was with the USAF Band of Mid-America at Scott AFB.

Rosalind accompanied the Metro East Community Chorale from 2000 to 2003 and became director of the chorale in 2008.
